About The American Legion
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic war-time veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
Your Suffolk County Organization
The American Legion Suffolk County Organization represents over 6,000 legionnaires, from the Nassau County border to Montauk point. Veterans make up more than 11 percent of the population in Suffolk County – equaling nearly 120,000 county veterans. This is the highest number of veterans in a single county in all of New York State.
This website is designed to serve as a source of current information for all of our members. We hope it will also serve to introduce prospective Legionnaires to the American Legion, the Suffolk County organization and to our member posts.
We encourage all member posts to take advantage of this website to keep us informed of their activities and programs.
